Biography's Are Hard To Do...

Written by Lisa Stocking.

My passion. My life and my career involves fitness, movement and the outdoors.

It's hard to write about one's self and celebrate all of your accomplishments without sounding boastful, but over time I have realized that if you do not acknowledge who you are or what you do others cannot identify with you as well.

Outside in nature is where I'm the most comfortable, making memories and being in awe of the outdoors.

Here is my biography:

I am not going to start this off as the typical 'mother/ wife' biography of myself....

No, I am a passionate, hard working, honest, loving, caring, dedicated, motivational, adventurous, slightly competitive, athletic woman who is not afraid to try new things and go new places.

This would not have been me ten years ago!

I didn't dye my hair, I wore a t-shirt over my bathing suit, I didn't drink coffee, try any new foods, travel or even contemplate exercise let alone climbing mountains.

Nearly fourteen years ago, I married a man who was so supportive at the many "things" I have decided to do that when I mentioned I wanted to buy a weight bench he simply said "sure" - I'm positive he was thinking that it would last a month. Almost eleven years ago I gave birth to my daughter (and only eighteen months between children), so not much had recovered between each.  This set of circumstances setting me up to fall into the trap of being pregnant and not getting myself back...let alone my body.

I'm not sure if any of you have read why I started this company or journey but somehow after this past year it didn't seem complete. If you would like to read the previous bio before you delve deeper into this click here!

So, where to go from there? Many of you know that 2012 was a very hard year personally and professionally for myself and my family. It started at the end of January with an emergency surgery for my mom and finished near the end of November with her passing. The moments between those dates are painful and sometimes unbelievable but as with anything really difficult in life you can either let it crush you or you can use it as a weight and do squats with it to get stronger.

I didn't work for over seven months and amazingly my business was still there when I returned to a community that has supported me, held me and cared for me when I couldn't myself. For that I am ever grateful. My return to work felt more focused and content than ever simply because I was just so happy to be back at something I loved; fitness.

Fitness saved my life more than once over the last year and in another sense gave my mom and I nearly a year together that we shouldn't have had because of her own strength she developed and maintained over the years.

So now as I carry forward into the future I have so much hope, optimism and happiness in my heart that it sings most days at the thought of what I can and will do in life. Life is yours for the taking or giving whichever way you look at it if you wake up grateful for that day and ready to take that day and give your best you can't fail, you really can't.

With society continuing to tell you that you can't be happy without this or that, just one more thing to be happy YOU have to stop the cycle and become who you were truly meant to be. A happy loving human! Living life now one day at a time and with the belief you can do anything you put your mind to no matter what anyone tells you. Is it hard? Do birds fly? Oh my gosh it will be so hard some days to make the choice to be happy and live a life with goals and outcomes you have to work for you will question your sanity but that feeling you get at the end of a great workout or life achievement is priceless!

You're worth it!
